2-24-21 THOUGHTS

In my experience, that which is most familiar is often the most comforting.  Some passages are so powerful that reading them is like “going home”!  Even people who barely know God find the 23rd Psalm pleasant to the soul.  It has been read at many funerals for those who never gave a thought for God as they lived. Yet a certain comfort is found.  It takes JESUS to validate the 23rd Psalm!  He needs to be LORD for the rest of it to be in effect.  .  
Each word, each phrase claims its own importance.  The reading is 6 powerfully packed verses.  To the BELIEVER, there is awesome SURETY here.  From SHEPHERD to FOREVER, I am given CONFIDENCE.  Numerous songs have borrowed from these words.

Ps 23:1-6    The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2  He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3  He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. 6  Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Today, do our cups OVERFLOW?  Do WE FEEL THE GOODNESS AND LOVING KINDNESS from our God?  

Ps 118:24   This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Oh Lord God, thank you that we belong to you.  Thank you for the purchase blood of Jesus.
We are grateful for your watch care and loving kindness.  We praise you for the comfort of your presence in our lives.  Help us to see our overflowing cup always.  Thank you that our relationship with you is eternal!        In Jesus precious name       Amen
